Tucson Breast Lifts

Mastopexy is plastic surgery procedure used to lift, firm and reshape the breasts, a breast lift combats the sagging and drooping that can result from age, weight loss, pregnancy or genetics. During mastopexy (breast lift) surgery, the diameter of the dark skin around the nipples (the areolas) can also be reduced. Breast Lift Options There are many different breast lift options that plastic surgeons offer their breast lift patients. Your physician will assist you in determining the best breast lift procedure for you by evaluating the degree of sagging (called "ptosis") and the size of your breasts. The best choice will create optimal lifting and shaping while creating a minimum of visible scarring.Techniques are often distinguished by the incision type, including the full mastopexy (anchor shape), Benelli mastopexy (donut shape) and short scar/vertical mastopexy (lollipop).
The anchor lift is a technique surgeons perform using an anchor shaped incision on the breast During the surgery plastic surgeons surgically remove any excess unwanted skin, to literally lift the breast to a new higher position.
Concentric Technique. Circular incisions are made around the outer edge of the areola. The surgeon cuts away skin outside the areola and moves the nipple to an elevated position on the breast. Vertical Mastopexy. This technique combines an incision around the perimeter of the areola with an incision down the front of the breast to the chest wall. A variation of the vertical lift called a crescent lift involves removing a moon-shaped piece of tissue from the bottom of the breast. Patients should understand that the overall goal of breast lift surgery is to achieve more lift and reshape a woman’s sagging breasts; it does not surgically enlarge them.
For patients desiring a cup size increase, a breast lift augmentation should be discussed with the plastic surgeon.

Right For You
Candidates generally must be both physically and mentally healthy adults who understand that there is a possibility that surgery will result in some visible scarring.

Breast lift surgery is not advisable for women who have plans to become pregnant or lose an excessive amount of weight; these situations can cause stretching and loosening of the skin and ligaments associated with the breast.

Before and After Your Surgery
Patients are usually put to sleep for the procedure and go home later that day as outpatients. Surgery typically will last 1 ½ to 3 ½ hours or more as determined by your surgeon. Your doctor may require you to wear compression garments over your wounds during the initial recovery phase. Patients generally experience bruising, swelling and pain for a short time after the procedure, especially at the incision sites, but Pain medications can be adminstered to help patients with post-operative pain. After about seven to ten days, the stitches are removed and the patient is given clearance to to resume normal activities. You may also be asked to to wear a bra continuously for 2-3 weeks and refrain from lifting heavy objects or exercising for up to a month after the procedure. Swelling should be gone after 2 months, and scars should begin fading over the following months.
